What a whirlwind month October has been.  The beach has been busy all month and we just finished our Fall Into Scrappin retreat last weekend with a full house of scrappers from up and down the east coast.  Everyone had a great time and there’ll be more about the upcoming retreats later in the newsletter.

Now that everyone is settled into school, all those fall activities, ready to put Halloween behind us and get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas – we’re gearing up to help you scrap all those holidays and get caught up on what you haven’t finished from summer.  New lines, new products and of course we keep selling Cricuts and having the Cricut workshops so you’ll know how to use it to make beautiful pages for all your scrappy moments.

Just a note to remind you too, last winter we had some whacky winter hours at the stores and it was pretty confusing – this year it’s going to be simple.  Surfside Beach will be open Wednesday through Saturday at 10AM and closed Sunday through Tuesday.  Surfside Beach class night is now on Thursday.  We had so many that enjoyed the Thursday classes that we had this past month because of rescheduling for the retreat, that we just made it official.  Be sure to mark your calendars now for Thursday in Surfside Beach.

The Pawleys Island hours and class schedule remains the same with no changes.

Be sure to join us in Pawleys Island on Saturday, November 4, 2006 for the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival.  It runs from 11AM to 3PM and the cook-off will be followed by a pig pickin at the Sandlappers Grill at 3PM until the pig runs out.  All of the stores in The Village Shops will be offering Fall Savings and everyone will have a great time.  The cook-off will feature teams from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s office matched up against The Midway Fire Department, plus local teams and entries.  The cook-off will benefit the South Carolina Grey Hound Adoption Program, so come on down, test the chili, vote for the People’s Choice award and help a good cause!

Finally, both stores will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd for Thanksgiving.  We hope you enjoy this special family holiday with all those you love and are thankful for and please remember all our family members who are not at home. Say a prayer of thanks to keep them safe when they are away.

Retreats

The Crazy Chocolate Crop in January is SOLD OUT but for those of you wanting a winter get-a-way we are taking reservations now for the Snowman Lovers Retreat in February and for the Fabulous Flip Flop Beach Party in March. The Snowman Lovers Retreat is booking fast and there are spots left. With the early sell out of Chocolate Crop, Nick has added more rooms to the block to accommodate the increased interest in our fabulous retreats.  Register for Snowman Lovers before November 17th, 2006 and take advantage of the Early Bird discount.  (This would make a great Christmas gift! Get your Santa busy now.)  Check the website, www.scrapbooksbythesea.com , or call either store for more information.

Classes

The NEW class schedule is Surfside Beach on THURSDAY at 6PM and Pawleys Island on Tuesday at 6PM.  It is important that you bring your basic scrappin' things with you. These include adhesives, glue, trimmer, scissors, pop dots, glue dots, chalks and don't forget your glasses. We are doing timely pages and using more and more things created with Cricut – so join the fun each week.  Make it a point to attend both classes if you like, many of you girls are doing that now and they’re doing twice the pages each week.

WORKSHOP

We will have a Christmas Card workshop on Saturday, November 18th, in the Pawleys Island store.  The cost will be $20.00 and your reservation must be made and paid by Thursday, November 9th to secure your spot.  The workshop is called; “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and we’ll be making a variety of Christmas cards using everything from stamps to paper crafting techniques and more.

SPEAKING OF CHRISTMAS CARDS

Stop by either store to see our complete line of scrapbook paper inspired Christmas cards specific to the beach, patriotic, golf and Santa Clause fun!  All Christmas cards are now on special at 20% OFF while the supply lasts.

Cuttin' Up With Cricut

Cricut now has SIX NEW cartridges!!! And we have the sample sheets in both stores for you to see.  They introduced the NEW pieces in Las Vegas last month and we are pre-order to be the FIRST IN LINE for the NEW cartridges.  They are: New Arrival; Walk In My Garden; Paper Pups; ZooBalloo; Printing Press and Opposites Attract (a cursive font).  Come see them now, place your order at our regular low, low price and be the first to have them.

Wrapping It Up

We have had some requests to do some children’s workshops during the Christmas break.  If there is any interest for you, please let us know so we can craft a schedule and have something special during the holiday break.

Keep your eyes peeled too, for the new location.  It’s getting closer.

For the best personal service, fun and ideas, stop by and visit with us the next time you are "down by the sea" .

Happy Scrappin' !
